“Self-love
has very little to do with how you feel about
your outer self. It's about accepting all of yourself.
You've got to learn to accept the fool in you
as well as the part that's got it going on.”

Tyra
got her start in modeling, which should be any surprise
to those who have heard of her. What might be a surprise
is that she was turned down by four modeling agencies
because they thought her face wasn't photogenic. It wasn’t
until she was 17 that the “Elite” modeling
agency recognized Tyra’s talent.
Tyra moved to Paris for a year and modeled for many of
the big names in fashion, including Ralph Lauren and Chanel.
She then moved back to the States and continued modeling,
quickly becoming known as one of the leading women in
fashion. Perhaps realizing that time might slowly be running
out, Tyra started to make moves toward a television and/or
film career.

Starting
first with TV shows like “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”,
Tyra got her foot in the door and her name in the credits.
Her first real movie role came in the teen drama “Higher
Learning”. Soon after she became the first African-American
woman ever to be shown on the covers of GQ magazine, the
Victoria's Secret catalog, and the Sports Illustrated
Swimsuit Issue.
Tyra has written a book entitled “Tyra's Beauty
Inside & Out”. She continues to seek work both
in the modeling world and in the film industry. It looks
like we all are going to be getting a good look at Tyra
and her career for a long time to come.
